Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

I do not agree that Lewis intended Narnia to be viewed as heaven, or even as a metaphor for heaven. There is real evil which is perpetrated in Naria in each of the books, evil which is then fought with the aid of Aslan. I rather see Naria (or at least the "shadow" Narnia) as a metaphor for our earthly struggles with sin and evil. The "true" Naria may be seen as one aspect or element of heaven, just as his discription in The Great Divorce offers a different view. But as to actually defining heaven, I do not think even Lewis, as great an author as he was, ever dared that.

…on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a fair green country under a swift sunrise.
